Minimum Dalton
Number of sunspots - changes in solar activity
Dalton minimum - a period of low solar activity, from about 1790 to 1830, determined on the basis of the observed number of sunspots.
Less solar activity is attributed to relationships with cooler periods on Earth. As with the Maunders minimum and Spörer minimum, lower mean temperatures were recorded at this time. This is the third and last peak of the glacier's range during the small ice age of 1820-1850 (average glacier response time is 17-40 years).
