Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) - module or functionality of MRP II and ERP systems responsible for capacity planning.
Usually this is done as a balance sheet comparing the load plan for the production machinery and equipment (resulting from the detailed production plan - MRP algorithm development) and the available production capacity (resulting from workplace calendars). This balance is especially created for bottleneck posts and is presented in the form of a graph on the screen or a tabular representation of the planned load, available capacity and balance (difference of the previous two columns) for the time series (usually in days) .
In the event of overloads, the planner or production manager may decide to supplement the production capacity (eg overtime planning), rework production, or resign from certain schedules (MPS), which in practice often means refusing some orders. customers.
Some modern MRP II / ERP systems are able to perform queuing while balancing the production schedule, and in the event of overloads, make immediate adjustments to the plan in such a way that it will never overload capacity. / p>
Capacity planning is an important part of the MRP II systems that extend the classic MRP algorithm, where capacity planning was implemented only in the form of coarse scheduling at the MPS level.
