Elliptical sentence


Elliptic Sentence - (from ελλιτια ἔλλειψις elleipsis - "none, leave") will be omitted in the syntax of the word or phrase. Most often, a recipient can recognize the meaning of an abandoned return from the context, for example:

Blacksmiths sold the old car and bought a new one.

Ellipses often appear in dialogues and spoken language. An erroneously used ellipse can lead to misunderstandings between the sender and the receiver.
