Europe Esperanto Democracy

Esperanto is a political party whose aim is to popularize Esperanto as an auxiliary language in the institutions of the European Union. Ultimately it is expected to be taught in all schools and become the official language of the EU.

One of the reasons for setting up a party is the ever increasing cost of maintaining direct translations. EDE proposes that instead of the existing translation system (from each language per one) translate via esperanto - there is currently a need for 506 translations, while translating via Esperanto would suffice to be 46. The second equally important reason is the protection of the culture of individual nations from the growing hegemony of English and the pursuit of to American and English culture.

The party has branches in France and Germany. Election 2004

The EDE section of the French Parliament participated in the 2004 European Parliament elections. She was a candidate in all seven constituencies. Due to limited financial resources, advertising materials were not printed and distributed - the supporters distributed them on the Internet. During the election campaign EDE enjoyed great press interest.

The German section failed to collect the required 4,000 records. signatures. Comparison of the number of translations
