Jan (Prince Beja)


Infant Jan João Maria Fernando Pedro de Alcantara Rafael Gabriel Leopoldo Carlos António Gregório Francisco de Assis Borja Gonzaga Félix de Bragança-Wettin (born March 16, 1842 in Lisbon, d. Portuguese, Prince Beja.

He was the third son of the queen-monarch Mary II and her husband King Ferdinand II.

He took military education. Served in the Army as Colonel of Cavalry Regiment. November 11, 1861, when, together with his brother Prince Porto, they were preparing to return from their visit to England and France, their eldest brother, King Peter V, died of cholera. At that moment, Prince Porto became King Louis I and John succeeded the throne.

After returning home, he died of typhoid in December 1861 (just as his brothers Peter V and Ferdynand). Honors Bibliography
