Basil Kuc
Basil Kuc (born March 31, 1897 in Trabach, died November 17, 1944 in Pavlodar) is a Belarusian political activist of the Second Polish Republic. Curriculum vitae
He graduated from a vocational school in St. Petersburg and later entered the military career (Kazan Cadet School). In the years 1915-1918 he fought in the Russian army, in 1918 captured and condemned to death by the Bolsheviks in Petrograd, escaped to fight in the white guards.
In 1921 he settled in Poland, in the district of Woźnian, where he ran his own farm. For several terms he held the office of the mayor of the municipality of Traby, he enrolled as a sponsor of numerous folk schools and fellowships for talented young Belarussian youth (for which he devoted his own parliamentary diet). He was the president of the Stefczyka Cashier in the district of Callow.
In the years 1930-1935 he served as deputy MP from the same district.
In 1939, he was appointed Civilian Field Security Commissioner, after the Red Army invaded Novgorod, he was arrested by the NKVD and sent to the Republic of Komi where he was involved in oil extraction.
Released as a result of the Sikorski-Mayski agreement, he was the trustee of the Delegation of the Polish Embassy in Pavlodar. In 1943 he was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison, released home in June 1944 for a few months before his death. Bibliography
