Hathemoda, Hatumoda (born 840, 29 November 874 in Bad Gandersheim, Lower Saxony) was the first abbot of the Gandersheim monastery since 852. > Hatumoda was the daughter of Prince Ludolf and Odin of the Billung dynasty. Her father went on a pilgrimage to Rome from where he brought relics of Popes Anasta I and Innocent I received from Pope Sergius II for the planned monastery foundation. In 852 the monastery was erected in Brunshausen, which was transferred to Gandersheim in 856. Ludolf's four children joined the Church, three of whom were abbots in Gandersheim: Hatumoda, Gerber, and Krystyna. Hatumoda died of an unknown disease, which she infected by nursing her sick sister. Soon after her death, the monk Agius of the Lamspringe monastery wrote her life "Vita obitus Hathumodae." Literature Authoritative control (person):
