After the outbreak of the war with Germany, August 22, 1941, he led the part of the regiment to the German side, announcing a battle with the Soviet authorities. In October of this year he formed a collaborative volunteer Cossack cavalry squadron at the head of the rear of the Army Group Center. He fought with the partisans in the occupied area of ​​Belarus. In 1942, he received the rank of lieutenant colonel, and in 1943 - Colonel. In the spring of 1942 he became commander of 102 Cossack cavalry squadrons. In the autumn of this year, he took command of the 600 Cossack cavalry regiment. From June 1943, he commanded the 5th Cavalry regiment of the Kozaki dynasty in the 1st Cavalry Cavalry Division. In January 1945, he took command of the 3rd Brigade of the Pedestrian Cossack Brigades of the 3rd Divisions in the XV Cavalry Corps of the SS Cavalry. On April 3 this year he became chief of staff of the corps. At the same time he served as liaison officer with the commander-in-chief of the Russian Liberation Army Gen. Andrey A. Vlasov. He was awarded the Iron Cross 1 and 2.

He avoided deportation to the Soviet Union. He lived in western Germany. He then moved to Australia.
