Riedla's bill

Diagram showing differentiation of liver with Riedl lobe and enlarged gall bladder

Riedel lobe, labyrinth appendicularis, linguiformis linguiformis - a variant of the anatomical structure of the liver, consisting of the presence of a long lingual appendicitis that goes from the right lobe laterally to the gall bladder. The concept of Riedel's tongue is often found in German-speaking medical literature (German Riedel 'Leberforsatz, Riedel' zungenförmiger Leberforsatz). This anomaly was described by German surgeon Bernhard Moritz Carl Ludwig Riedel in 1888.
