Mostek H
Mostek "H"
The H bridge is an electrical system that controls the direction of operation of DC motors. They are often used in robotics. Available as integrated circuits, they can also be built from discrete components.
The term "H bridge" derives from a typical graphic representation of the layout. This bridge is made up of 4 pins (semiconductor elements often have MOSFET or IGBT or mechanical transistors). When terminals S1 and S4 are closed and S2 and S3 open, the motor will be energized and it will start to rotate. By opening the terminals S1 and S4 and closing S2 and S3, we change the direction of current flow, thus changing the direction of rotation of the rotor.
