MSC 2000
MSC 2000 (Mathematics Subject Classification 2000) - a hierarchical classification of scientific research in mathematics formulated by the American Mathematical Society. Division into fields
The main level distinguishes 64 domains, each identified by two digits. For example:
Each major domain is then subdivided into sub domains. For example: The "68" are among others
Each subfolder can be divided into narrower branches: "68Q" has 18 branches, among them:
However, it is not always obvious how a given publication or theorem should be classified. For example, similar questions may be included in "68Q05" (Turing Machines from theoretical computer science point of view) or "03D10" (Mathematical Turing Machines). Therefore, more than one category is used to classify mathematical works: primary and secondary. Bibliography
