Antypater II
Antypater II (born ca. 46 p.n., 4 p.n.) is the eldest son of Herod the Great. He came from his first marriage with Doris.
After the marriage of Herod with the Mariamme princess Mariamme I first mother Antipater and later he was removed from Jerusalem. Antipater could return to the capital only for important holidays. After the conflict Herod with the sons Mariamme I was in 14 p.n.e. summoned to the court and appointed successor of the father. Probably shortly afterwards he married unknown daughter of Antigone, the last king of the Hasmoneus dynasty. He had at least two children with him: a son and a daughter.
About 7 p.n. Due to the plot, he had to leave the court again. Returned, he went to Rome to obtain from the Emperor Octavian Augustus confirmation of the testament of Herod the Great, according to which he was to succeed his father. Upon returning to Herod's command, he was imprisoned and executed. The execution of Antypatra occurred five days before his father's death. Bibliography
