Poles talk about Italian freedoms and rights (it also functions under the titles: The Conversation of a Pole with Italian, Conversations about Elections, Freedom, The Law of Polish Customs, Dialogues on the Elections) - political dialogue was formed around 1588-1598, written by Łukasz Górnicki. One version of the work was published in 1616, after the author's death, by the writer of the town of Jędrzeja Suski. However, he made the work as his own text, which prompted Górnicki's sons to publish in the same year Conversations from another manuscript, with the mention of the real creator, Conversations about elections, about freedom, about the law on Polish customs.
According to the author's intent, this dialogue was to be close to the conversation of the Pole with Czech Krzysztof Warszewicki.
The circumstances during which the conversation is taking place is the election of Zygmunt III in 1587. Italy, a supporter of the governments of the Republic of Venice residing in Poland and taken over by her fate, represents the views of the author - Górnicki. Pole, the Italian interlocutor is a landlord, a supporter of the so-called. "golden freedom" and defender of the privileges of the nobility, and the opponent of granting some civil rights to the townspeople and peasants.
Górnicki in the piece puts the words of harsh criticism against the defects of the Polish system at that time.
