Syntazy
Synthesis - a group of enzymes catalyzing all synthesis reactions.
Until 1984, the term was limited to enzymes catalyzing reactions without NTP, such as ATP (as opposed to synthetics requiring NTP). In 1984, the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has recommended the extension of the meaning of the name "synthase" to all enzymes catalyzing synthesis and renaming "syntheses" to "ligases" (to avoid confusing names).
Syntheses do not belong to the EC system and so can be called any enzyme to emphasize its role in the synthesis reaction. Examples
