Izet Nanić


Izet Nanić (born October 4, 1965, died tragically on August 4, 1995) was a commander of the 505th Infantry Brigade belonging to the 5th Corps of the Bosnian and Herzegovina Army under the command of Gen. Atifa Dudaković. Izet Nanić graduated from high school in 1984 in Zagreb. After graduating from high school, he was admitted to the Belgrade Military Academy, graduating in 1987. He served in the anti-aircraft defense unit at Kragujevac.

During the outbreak of the war in Bosnia, he joined the armed forces of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Throughout the armed conflict in Bosnia, he was the commander of the 505th Infantry Brigade stationed in northwestern Bosnia in Bužim.

In the summer of 1995, during the displacement of the Serb forces from the Bosnian-Croatian border, it was tragically killed by the exchange of fire. He left three children, daughter Izet (1988) and two sons Nevet (1991) and Ibrahim (1993).

Izet Nanic is currently considered a "legendary commandant" in the Bosnian population.
