Juozas Paknys
Juozas Paknys (born 23 September 1883 near Rakiszek, 3 January 1948 in Germany) is an economist and industrialist, political activist and president of the Lithuanian Bank.
In 1904 he graduated from high school in Mitawa, where he became involved. in the activity of the Lithuanian Kūdikis revival society. In the same period he was active in the Lithuanian Social Democrat, whose membership was in 1906. In the years 1908-1912 he studied at the Institute of Commerce in St. Petersburg.
After Lithuania regained independence in 1918, he was a member of the cabinet of Mykolas Sleževičius as Minister of Labor and Social Welfare. In the years 1939-40 he was the President of the Lithuanian Bank.
