Megajra

Megayra, Megier, Megera (Greek: Μέγαιρα Mégaira, Latin Megaer) - in Greek mythology, one of the Erynians, born of the blood of Uranus, the original goddess of revenge, Sister Alekto and Tyyphon. Megayra, whose name means "envious", was responsible for causing envy and jealousy, as well as leading to treason and marriage infidelity. Convinced by Athena, she and her sisters received the title Eumenid (goddess of mercy). Megayra's sister-in-law and her sisters were supposed to be in Kerynea in Achaia, and his founder was Orestes. From the Latin version of her name comes the term "megiera", meaning a malicious, willing to quarrel woman. Bibliography
