Corino Andrade


Mário Corino da Costa de Andrade (born June 10, 1906 in Moura, June 16, 2005 in Porto) is a Portuguese neurologist. He first described family familial amyloid polyneuropathy (FAP), sometimes referred to as Corino de Andrade.

He was the founder of the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, a large research center based in Porto. As an opponent of Salazar, he was imprisoned by the Portuguese political police (PIDE) for being a member of a government criticizing the government. Bibliography Authoritative control (person):
