Jadwiga Orska
Jadwiga Joanna Orska (born March 8, 1923 in Warsaw, Poland) is a geologist, petrograph specialist in the field of chemical raw materials, especially salt, a co-discoverer of polyhalite salt deposits in the Puck Bay region. Curriculum vitae
The certificate of maturity was obtained in 1946 in the Second City Secondary School. Jan Kochanowski in Warsaw. Since 1948 she worked at the State Geological Institute. Three-year geological studies took place at the Faculty of Geology of the University of Warsaw, then two years at the Geological and Exploration Department of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow. In 1962 she received a Master's degree in geology.
In the years 1955-1958 she participated in the mapping of underground excavations of the salt mine in Kłodawa, and also developed a petrographic composition of the salt. Since 1961 she was head of the Laboratory of Petrography of Salt of the Department of Salt and Chemical Resources of the State Geological Institute. She conducted mineralogical, petrographic and physicochemical studies of rocks of salt deposits of Góra, Lubień, Damasławek, Kłodawa and Lętkowice-Siedlec. It also tested the Zechstein salt from deep drilling holes in the Polish Lowlands.
Since the discovery in 1964 of the Sehishin polyhalite salt in the Puck Bay region, it has been involved in their identification and documentation. For the discovery and documentation of these salts received in 1968 the State Technical College Second Degree Award.
In 1969 she studied alpine rock salt deposits at the University of Vienna (Austria) and at the University of Basel (Switzerland) as part of a six-month fellowship of the United Nations. In 1970 she was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit.
In early 1976, she was head of the Department of Salt and Chemical Resources of the State Geological Institute. At that time, the department was searching for, recognizing and documenting the Zechstein and Miocene deposits of rock salt and potassium magnesium, phosphorites and other chemical raw materials. In 1980, he received a prize for Geological Documentation of Rock Salt in Cat. C on the salt refinery of Lubień.
She is an author or co-author of many publications and over 30 archival papers. Bibliography
