Roman Agape


Agapiusz Rzymski - one of the dead in 258 n.e. He died in martyrdom during the persecution of Emperor Valerian I. The emperor issued two decrees: the first prohibited Christians from all liturgical activities and gatherings, and the other imposed high punishments on the followers of Christ belonging to the court of the emperor. August 6, 258, while celebrating the Mass. Agape along with three deacons and Pope Sixtus were captured and cut. The victim of the same wave of persecution was St. Lawrence.

His death is witnessed by, among others, Brevarium Syriacum
