Skinny Client Control Protocol

Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) - protocol developed by Selsius Corporation. It has been specified and is owned by Cisco Systems as a communications device between Skinny and Cisco CallManager.

SCCP is a lightweight protocol. CallManager acts as a proxy for initiating connections over other common protocols such as H.323, SIP, ISDN or MGCP. Skinny users use TCP / IP to and from one or more Call Managers groups. RTP / UDP / IP is used in a similar way to a skinny client or H.323 terminal (a real-time audio source). SCCP is the primary stimulus for the protocol, and is a communications protocol that is a separate device or system that is relevant to the CPU and limits the computer's memory.

Cisco acquired SCCP technology with the acquisition of Selsius in 1998. As a remnant of Selsius's current IP IP, the default format of the device name registered for Cisco along with CallManager is SEP - Selsius Ethernet Phone, resulting from addressing (MAC) addresses. Other companies such as Symbol Technologies and SocketIP have introduced this protocol to the VolP and Media Gateway Controllers and Softswitches. The introduction of Open Source SCCTP / Skinny exists and is currently part of the Asterisk (PBX) system. IPBlue has developed software (soft phone) that also uses SCCP signaling.
