ZOG

ZOG - an early hypertext system developed in the 1970s by Donald McCracken and Robert Akscin at Carnegie Mellon University.

ZOG was first launched in 1972 as a large database for use in a multi-user environment. It consisted of text frames that contained a title, a description, a line containing the ZOG system commands, and menu items that led to other frames. The ZOG database became fully functional in 1977. In 1982 the ZOG was moved from the original IBM mainframe computer to the PERC workstation Three Rivers and used on the American aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. McCracken and Axkn developed the Knowledge Management System, an improved version of ZOG.
