Arthur Troop
International Police Association (IPA), an organization of police officers and returnees from around the world. Its motto is the Esperanto slogan "Servo Per Amikeco" - "Serve Through Friendship" and the goal of creating authentic relationships of friendship and professional fellowships between police officers around the world.
The association was created in 1950 by the initiative of English police officer Arthur Troop, Polish police joined him in 1992. Today it is a powerful international organization with more than 60 countries and several hundred thousand members. In each Member State it acts as a national section - in Poland it is the IPA Section of Poland. The most numerous are the national sections in Germany (58 642 members - 2001 data), Austria (33 630 members), Israel (20 000 members). In Poland at the end of 2004 there were 6,200 IPA members.
The IPA is a star in a wreath surrounding a globe with the inscription International Police Association. Only organizations and members of the IPA can use this logo. IPA - Section of Poland
The IPA national authorities are represented by the Presidium of the National Executive Board headed by the President of the Polish Section of the IPA - Fryderyk Orepuk.
In Poland IPA is divided into 17 Voivodeship Groups (16 voivodships plus capital group). Each of them organizes sports events, in which Polish and foreign policemen participate, organizes trips abroad with meetings with local representatives of the IPA and the Police. IPA Poland also accepts many tours of foreign policemen, mainly from Europe but also from Israel and USA.
