Popular edition
Popular edition (Latin editio minor) - This edition of text is intended for the needs of schools or the general public. The name "editio minor" is used because of the lack of critical equipment in such editions.
The content of the popular release may vary, depending on the target audience. Its main element is the text, almost always given in transcription and in linguistic modernization for ancient works. If the issue includes a comment, it is generally concise - there is no critical apparatus, but rather a factual explanation, especially in editions for use by schools. If the edition contains an introduction, it is usually essayistic.
Popular editions are often illustrated and have a richer graphic design than typical critical, scientific, and scientific-didactic editions.
