Rock for Choice

Rock For Choice - a series of charity concerts supporting the American and Canadian pro-choice movement that took place between 1991 and 2001. The beginnings

The genre of Rock For Choice can be seen in the interview of LA Weekly journalist Sue Cummings with members of the American feminist band L7, who confessed to plans to make a profit from the upcoming concert for a pro-choice organization. Sue persuaded them to make a bigger-than-life action, based on Bob Geldof's Live Aid concerts. She contacted feminist organizations, found a sponsor, and arranged a meeting with the Feminist Majority, who soon expressed her willingness to participate in the project.

The first concert with bands Nirvana, Hole, L7 and Sister Double Happiness took place on October 21, 1991 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

The series of concerts was transformed into an organization headed by Feminist Majority, which released several musical compilations. Spirit of '73: Rock for Choice. Artists
