Biotransformacja


Biotransformation - chemically catalyzed enzymes that transform a particular chemical.

Biotransformations in microorganisms can be compared to "biocatalysts" that carry out the transformation leading to the desired product. These are processes that usually use only one enzyme and do not provide the cell with energy or compounds needed. Biotransformations also occur in the spore form of microorganisms, due to the lack of involvement of any metabolic pathways in the process.

One of the most important problems with biotransformation is the reduction of the permeability of substrates and products through the cytoplasmic membrane or the secretion of the corresponding enzyme from the cell. Therefore, specific treatment methods developed depend on the nature of the micro-organism (eg surfactants). Bibliography
