Wadai (also: Ouaddaï, Wadai) - a medieval African kingdom in present-day Chad. In the thirteenth century, the area of ​​the later Vadak was overrun by Dunam Dibbles from Kanem-Bornu. In 1635 there was a Muslim uprising, which resulted in the creation of the kingdom of Vadak. In the eighteenth / nineteenth century, during the reign of Sabun and Muhammad Shari, the country gained considerable power, but was soon forced to defend its independence from France. It was finally mastered in 1912. In 1935 the French restored the kingdom under its protectorate. After Chad's independence in 1960 the kingdom was liquidated.
