Pasquier Quesnel

Pasquier Quesnel (born 14 July 1634 in Paris), died December 2, 1719) is a French theologian, Jansenist, oratorian. At the death of Antoine Arnauld he was at the forefront of the Jansenist movement.

Suspected of Jansenism escaped to Brussels, then captured by the Jesuits and imprisoned, escaped again and took refuge in Amsterdam. He published the New Testament, supplying them with numerous moral reflections. His statements were condemned in Pope Clement XI's Unigenitus (1713). Authoritative control (person):
