Uzel Tractor
Uzel Tractor - Turkish company founded in 1935 by Ibrahim Uzel.
The company initially worked in the Bursa on the production of leaf springs. As production expanded in 1940, it was moved to Istanbul, where the offer was expanded with construction frames and other parts. Since 1948 the company has been operating under the registered name of Imbrahim Uzel, and since 1953 as İbrahim Uzel ve Ortakları Limited Şirketi with its registered office in Istanbul Sirkeci.
In 1958 the existing factory became too small for production and a new plant was established in the Rami district. In 1961 the company signed a license agreement for the production of agricultural tractors from Massey Ferguson and in 1962 the first production line left the tractor - it was the first of its kind produced in Turkey. In 1964, Uzel signed a license agreement for engine production with the British company Perkins Engines Company Limited and launched its first diesel engine production in the country. In the 70s of the twentieth century, the production was extended by further contracts, and in 1977 Uzel Holding was formed by Ahmet Uzel. Since 1981 the company has developed its international distribution.
Since 1997 the company has been listed in the London Stock Exchange and İstanbul Menkul Kıymetler Borsası. Since 2005 it has been based in Amsterdam.
In 2005 the holding took over the German Holder company, and in 2007 production began in Pune, India and purchased 51 percent. shares in the Ursus plant from the Bumar Group, resulting in the creation of a joint venture called Ursus International Tractors sp. z o.o. In 2008, the agreement with Ursus expired because of its failure to meet Uzel's requirements.
