Battle of Lubusz (1239) - Battle of 1239 between the Polish and Silesian duke Henryk the Pious and the Marxist margraves of Otto III and Jan I of the Teutonic Dynasty.

After the death of Duke Silesian in 1238 Margrave Brandenburger Otton III and Jan I took action to master the land of Lubuskie. Working with Pomeranian prince Barnim I crossed the Oder River and occupied Santok. At the same time Barnim took Henry the Pious Cedynia and Kiniec, moving the boundaries of his duchy to the line of the Thought River. The next step of young German princes was to take Lubus and take control of the whole of Lubuskie. To this end, they established closer contacts with the Margrave of Meister Henry III and the Archbishop Magdeburg Wilbrand. In the summer of 1239 a great expedition led by Archbishop Wilbrand and one of the Margrave of Brandenburg. German actions did not surprise Henry the Pious. The Silesian prince organized in a timely manner a strong relief and beaten German troops besieging Lubusz. Henry the Pious won a great victory by giving the aggressors high losses. The defeat of the Archbishop and of the young Margraves made the beginning of a new war between the Brandenburgians and the Margrave of Meissen. Shortly after the rebellion, Henry the Pious recovered Santok, leaving, however, in the hands of the Prince of Pomerania Barnim Cedynia and Kiniec. Bibliography
