Let Peak National Monument
Eruption of Lassen Peak volcano in May 1915
Lassen Peak National Monument is a non-existent national monument in the United States in the state of California. The monument was established on May 6, 1907 by the decision of US President Theodore Roosevelt. The United States Congress united him on August 9, 1916, with the Cinder Cone National Monument and thus created the existing Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Starting in 1914, the area of the monument was a place of considerable volcanic activity. The Lassen Peak volcanic eruption, which took place on May 22, 1915, devastated the countryside. The volcanic ash erupted over 300 km.
The volcanic activity in this area continued to vary from 1921.
