Robin Yearwood


Robin Yearwood (born 1946), antiguan politician, leader of the opposition and chairman of the Antigua Labor Party since 2005. Political career Robin Yearwood in 1976 was first elected to the House of Representatives of the District of St. Louis. Phillips North, where he sits today.

In 1980 he first took office in government administration, where he held various functions for many years. In 2001, he served as Minister for Housing, Transport and Aviation in the government of Prime Minister Lester Bird. In September 2002, Prime Minister Bird appointed him Deputy Prime Minister.

In the parliamentary elections on March 23, 2004, the Antigua Labor Party suffered a defeat, earning only four seats in the 17-member parliament. The new Prime Minister was Baldwin Spencer of the United Progressive Party. The Labor Party of Antigua was in opposition. In 2005 Robin Yearwood replaced Lester Bird as the party leader.
