Alyattes II

Alyattes II - king of Lydia in 619 BC - 560 BC, founder of the Lydian Empire, successor and son of Sadyattes. During his reign he invaded Miletus and exiled the Kimera tribe in the battles with which Gyges died, his great-grandfather.

On 28 May 585 p.n.e. There was an unresolved battle over the Halys between Alyattes and King Medes Kyaksares. According to Herodotus, the eclipse occurred during this battle. As a result of this peace, the Halys River (now Kizilirmak) became a border river and Alyattes' daughter, Aryenis, became the wife of King Astyages Medes. He also struck down the port city of Ion, Smyrna.

The successor to Alyatessa was his son Krezus.
