Ambrosia (ecology)

Ambrosia - symbiotic cure of imperfect fungi or beetles (mainly from the genera Monilia, Cephalosporium and Tuberculariella) with some insects or their larvae (eg beetles, termites, ants, some beetles, gallates) parasitic in higher plant tissues. This dependence is that the insect feeds on the mycelium that lays the tunnels hollow in the plant, and the fungus draws nutrients from the feces of the insect or plant tissues. An additional benefit to the mushroom is its spread along with the insect dung. Bibliography
