Jean de Labadie (born 13 February 1610, died 13 February 1674) is a French Christian mystic. From 1625 to 1639 he was a Jesuit at the monastery of Bordeaux, later a traveling preacher. In 1650 he left the bosom of the Catholic Church and joined the Reformed Church. He was rector of the Montauban academy, in 1659 he was a preacher in Geneva, and in 1666 in Middelburg, the Netherlands. Labadie propagated the idea of ​​the apostolic Church and considered himself a prophet called by the Holy Spirit to carry out the necessary reforms in the Church. He gathered around him a community of "saints" to prepare for them the coming of the kingdom of Christ. In Labadi's community there was a strict discipline, asceticism, a community of property.
