Battle of Pobiedziska

Battle of Pobiedziska - in the summer of 1041, according to the Russian chronicler Nestor in his novels past, Prince Russki Jaroslaw Mądry set off against Mazovia. As in the case of the Jaroslaw expedition of 1047, Nestor does not mention the participation of the Polish Prince Duke Kazimierz I the Restorer, but it is assumed that in this earlier war Kazimierz also participated. According to Zdzislaw Pietras, in the face of the expected attack of Jaroslaw Wise on Mazovia and his alliance with Kazimierz the Renovator (the wedding of the Polish prince with Dobronia Maria, the daughter of Wlodzimierz I the Great), the ruler of Mazovia Miecław in order to avoid fighting on two fronts in the spring of 1041 began operations against the prince's forces Polish. By providing information for the Silesian-Polish chronicle, Zdzisław Pietras locates the start of Kazimierz with Miecław near Pobiedziska. Kazimierz smashed Miecław's troops there, but in spite of his victory, he did not finally manage to solve the Mazovian problem. He made a truce with Miecław, delaying the future issue of total dependence Mazovia from the crown.
