It is also his duty to report any change to the registration data and to request the deletion of the unit from the register. It is also the responsibility of the shipowner to make a request to the Polish classification society to issue a measurement certificate for his ship. The company is obliged, among others, to submit the necessary documentation to the ship; He also requests the Director of the Inland Waterway Office to issue or amend the inland navigation certificate. The shipowner is liable for damage caused by the fault of the crew of an inland waterway ship or an inland waterway pilot in relation to a third party. He may also take part in the inland waterway management by the director of the inland waterway authority. From the above it follows that the concept of shipowner is related to the concept of inland waterway carrier, but despite some similarities, there are essential differences between them.
