Royal Harwood Frost
Royal Harwood Frost (born 25 February 1879 in Salem, Massachusetts, died May 11, 1950) is an American astronomer. Between 1896 and 1908 he was an assistant to Edward Pickering at the Harvard University Observatory. From 1902 to 1905 he worked at the observation station in Arequipa, Peru, using a 24-inch refractor. On August 21, 1902, he discovered the asteroid (505) Cava. He continued research on the nebular objects initiated by DeLisle Stewart. He discovered 454 objects that were included in the 1902 IC II, the second supplement to the New General Catalog. In 1926, he received a request from Harvard University to go to the Boyden Observatory in Bloemfontein, South Africa, where he had been refitting the Arequipa refractor, but Frost refused. Instead, he started his farm in Tingo, Peru. Later he returned to the US to Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked for an oil company, dealing with accounting. He then moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. He died on May 11, 1950. Bibliography
