USS PC-1264

The USS PC-1264 was an American submarine submarine of the PC-461 type that served in the United States Navy during World War II.

The ship was built in Morris Heights, New York. He entered service in April 1944 and was known to have been one of the two American warships of World War II whose crew was occupied by African Americans. The second was the destroyer escort USS "Mason" (DE-529).

He was withdrawn from service in 1945 and was transferred to the Maritime Commission for disassembly in March 1948. PC-1264 was the first ship to be assigned future Admiral Samuel Gravely, the first African American to advance to this degree. .

The remains of the ship are still visible in the abandoned port of New York. Bibliography
