Heliktyt (Ancient Greek elliptic helix) - an agrawitic form of cave infiltration, usually takes the form of irregular clusters of small crystals of calcite or aragonite, which grow into fancy forms of wood. Helicets are formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate from the water sinking from the substrate. They are usually found on walls and ceilings, as well as on stalactites and glazes. In Polish caves there are occasionally. in the Western Tatras in the Chimney Sweeps (Heliktytowa Gallery) and in the Sudetes in the Bear Cave (Heliktytowy ZauĊ‚ek). Bibliography
