John Lapli


John Lapli (born 1955) - Governor General of the Solomon Islands. He performed this function between 1999 and 2004.

Prior to becoming governor, he served as a Temotu provincial captain. In 2000 he was kidnapped by rebels but he was released after a few days after the abduction.

In July 2004, Lapli tried to seek re-election as governor but lost the election by winning only 6 out of the 41 possible votes in the parliament. John Lapli is a priest with the name "Father John" or "Mama John" (in the region where Father Lapla is a priest, Father or Mother).
