Josyp Mikhailovich Hladsky (Гладкий Йосип Михайлович) lived in the years 1789-1866 - the last basketball racket of the. At the time of the Russian-Turkish War (1827-1829), when he organized the return of Cossacks from the Danube (escaped there in the second half of the 17th century from Russian pressure), under Russian serfdom.

The Danzig Cossacks helped the Russian troops cross the Danube and participated in the war against Turkey, for which Hikkyi was named colonel. He was ordered to form Azerbaijani Cossacks from the Cossacks and in 1832 he was appointed to the Ataman "ordered" (imposed on the Cossack, not chosen by the Cossacks himself) and promoted to the rank of Major General. He lived in Aleksandrowsk (now Zaporoze), where he died of cholera. His grave is located in the University of the Zaporozhye.
