Riots in Los Angeles (1992)


1992 Los Angeles Riots, or Rodney King's Uprising - the biggest riots that happened in the United States in the twentieth century.

The riots began on April 29, 1992, when a jury acquitted four white policemen accused of beating a black taxi driver, Rodney King, who was reluctant to arrest him. A video showing Kinga beaten by police has been posted on the media. Thousands of citizens of different races in Los Angeles, believing the verdict of unfairness went to the streets. The riots lasted six days. Crowds made thefts, assaults, arson during riots, and riots, and estimates of damage assets amounted to over $ 1 billion. The quietness in the streets was restored only after members of the California National Guard, the 7th Infantry Division and the 1st Marine Division were called in to prevent further riots when the local police were unable to control the situation. At the time of the riots, 63 people were killed, 2,383 were injured, more than 12,000 were arrested and 3,767 buildings were burned.
