Stereids
Layers s1 and s3 are thin, usually outside the resolution of the optical microscope, while the s2 layer is the thickest, reaching a thickness of several micrometers. Microfibrils in layers are arranged helically and the angle of inclination relative to the axis of the cell may vary considerably.
The secondary wall usually contains a lot of cellulose, usually about 50 percent dry matter. In the above cells there are pits. Jams in the fibers are crevice and may be funnel or straight depending on the type of fibers. Fibers are usually grouped either into strands connecting to the network or forming a layer or deck.
