Strefa Teisseyre'a-Tornquista
The Teisseyre-Tornquist zone (Torn Tist zone, Tornquist-Teisseyre zone) - a series of tectonic faults constituting the eastern boundary of the Trans-European suture zone connecting the Eastern European platform to the geological structures of Western Europe.
In the T-T zone there is a gradual change in the properties of rocks in the earth's crust. The T-T zone consists of a series of parallel deep faults and breaks. Some of them reach the surface of Mohorovičić's discontinuity. The jumps are mostly vertical, sometimes slightly inclined to the northeast.
Until recently, the Teisseyre-Tornquist zone was called the Trans-European Seam, but the recent years have led to the distinction between the TT zone as a linear structure - the western edge of the East European platform and the trans-European seam zone as a stranded structure - linking this platform with smaller The structure has grown to the west.
The existence of the zone was discovered by Polish geologist Wawrzyniec Teisseyre, and his research was confirmed by German Alexander Tornquist. Their name comes from the name. Despite its incomparable contribution to the discovery and exploration of the West's publication zone, the name of the Pole is second or omitted. Bibliography
