Synagogue in Narewka

Synagogue in Narewka - a non-existent, wooden synagogue located in Narewka on today's Szkolna Street.

The synagogue was built in the mid-nineteenth century. During the Second World War, after the entry of the Soviet troops into Narewka in 1939, the synagogue was destined for grain storage. This situation stirred up the religious Jews who burned the synagogue in 1940. At the end of the war, a residential house was built in its place.

The wooden synagogue building was erected on a rectangular plan. In the eastern part was the main prayer room, which was directly accessible from the courtyard through the centrally located doors on the north wall. In the western part there was a cheder, above which there was a woman sitting on the floor with a separate entrance and a staircase. The whole was covered with a gable roof covered with shingle.
