The Society of Jordanian Gardens

The Jordanian Garden Society - Polish social organization was established in 1929. The name "Jordanowskie Gardens Society" was commonly used despite the fact that the organization was officially called the Jordanian Friends and Garden Society "first" because its activists took care of the Jordanian Garden in Warsaw on Bagatela Street. In 1932 it was transformed into the Warsaw Society of Jordanian Gardens.

It promoted and supported the creation of gardens called "Jordanian gardens" according to the patterns developed by Henry Jordan. The first park of this type was established in Cracow in 1888. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries they were formed in the Galician cities, and soon thereafter also in Warsaw, PÅ‚ock, Kalisz and Lublin. After the death of Henry Jordan, the idea of "play-and-play gardens" has declined, and now the Jordanian gardens serve as care and educational facilities for children.
