Awicebron
Salomon ben Jehuda ben Gabirol, known in the West as Awicebron or Awencebrol (born around 1002 in Málaga, died around 1070 in Valencia) - medieval rabbi, philosopher and poet Andalusian -Job, Platonic.
His life is poorly known. He studied in Saragossa, but he worked primarily in Cordoba.
His most important philosophical writings were Keter Malkut (The Crown of the Kingdom), a didactic character, and Mekor Chaim (The Source of Life), theoretically, translated into Latin by John Spaniard and Dominic Gundisalvi as Fons vitae. Another of his important writings for philosophy is the Mibchar ha-penunim (The choice of pearls), an anthology containing many passages from the works of ancient thinkers. Fons Vitae is influenced by Proclus and Plotin, as well as the neo-Platonic interpretation of Aristotle and the brethren of chastity. In spite of these influences, Ben Gebirola's thought has a lot of originality. Bibliography Authoritative control (person):
