Bertrand de Chambert
Bertrand de Chambert (born 1479, died 1522) - commander of French rides during the Italian wars.
He participated in the French defeat of the Battle of Cerignola in 1503. He participated in the defense of Gaeta, and together with de Bayard he defended the retreat after the defeat of Garigliano (1503). After the fall of Gaeta in January 1504 he commanded the retreat of French troops to Rome. At the Battle of Ravenna (1512) he led the left wing of the French army. After the death of de Foix, he was in command of the battle of Marignano (1515) with La Palic, where he defeated the cavalry of the Swiss armed forces. Soon after, he participated in the invasion of the Duchy of Milan. In 1522 he led an unsuccessful charge of cavalry at the Battle of Bicocca. He died several months later of pneumonia.
