Chaim Kaniewski
Rabin Chaim Kaniewski, 2006. Chaim Kaniewski, Hebrew חיים קנייבסקי (born January 8, 1928) is a Lithuanian rabbi of the Haredi and Pasha (Halak authority) living in Bene Berak, Israel.
He is the author of several books devoted to religious Jewish law, such as the Derech Emuno (דרך אמונה Path of Faith), devoted to the rules of soil cultivation, Szone Halachos (שונה הלכות) - a popular systematic work of thought in Mishna Berur. His rabbinical interpretation of the laws of prayer is gathered in Iszei Isroel.
He is the son of Rabbi Jaakov Israeli Kaniewski, the son-in-law of rabbi Josef Szolom Eliasziwa, and is also closely related to rabbi Abraham Jaisalah Kareli, known as Chazon Isz. All of them are outstanding experts in the Torah.
Rabbi Kaniewski is known for his political side. Thousands of people visit the rabbi every year, asking for advice on religious rules.
In March 2008 Rabbi Kaniewski was asked to give an opinion on the dismissal of an Arab working in one of the Yeshiva in Bene Berak. In his opinion, a Jew should not employ Arabs, especially not in a yeshiva.
